Business Spotlight: Lush

by | Sep 12, 2024 | Business Spotlight

We recently sat down with Sam, the General Manager of Lush in the Eden Centre and chatted about her time working in the centre of High Wycombe and all things Lush.

We want to be day-makers and I really hope that when you come into our store that we can do that, even if it is in the smallest way

Could you tell us a little bit about your business for those who don’t know?

Lush, founded in 1995, began by supplying products to the Body Shop in the 70s before launching Cosmetics to Go in the 80s, where we invented essentials like the Bath Bomb and Shampoo Bar. Ethics are central to our business, reflected in our ingredients and our commitment to fighting animal testing. We’re a leader in ethical, eco-conscious cosmetics, constantly innovating to offer cruelty-free, packaging-free options. Plus, we smell amazing!

Tell us a bit about your story working for Lush in High Wycombe, what do you love about being here?

I began my career in Lush in 2018 as a sales assistant working 8 hours a week. As time went on, I kept being offered more hours which I was loving as I loved working here. I became a Supervisor as the company went through managerial changes, COVID and one of the businesses, most challenging Christmas’ the company has ever seen convinced me to apply for the vacant manager role.

What I love most about working for this company and managing this store is meeting people from all walks of life and being able to really help them – and I don’t just mean in a customer service way. I always say that our products aren’t like any normal product. From the outside it might just look like a bath bomb or a bottle of shower gel but they can also be the difference between having a really rubbish day and then turning it into a good day.

When you come into our store I always strive to make sure that it is a welcoming space and that people can feel safe with us, and even if you aren’t coming in to buy something you can still have a great chat with a staff member hopefully have a giggle and leave feeling brighter. The company always says to us that we want to be day-makers and I really hope that when you come into our store that we can do that, even if it is in the smallest way.

Any exciting upcoming plans/events or offers?

We have so much coming for Halloween, Christmas, Diwali, Dia De Los Muertos and Hannakuh so plenty of new things to come in and see and smell. We may also have a few exciting collaborations thrown in there as well!

Where can people find out more about Lush in High Wycombe and everything you have to offer?
