Nestled deep within the hills of Buckinghamshire’s stunning countryside, High Wycombe is a little town with a BIG personality. Some people call it the heart of the Chilterns, and of course they’re right.
Wycombe is all about heart – from its picturesque position at the centre of those ancient chalk hills to the passion and generosity of its locals. A visit here always feels a bit like coming home – regardless of who you are or where you usually hang your hat.
High Wycombe is also a town is filled with surprises and contradictions. Here you’ll find beautiful historic buildings alongside modern street art; you can explore a sprawling shopping centre full of retail giants, or stroll streets dotted with lively independents (and even livelier locals). We’re a mere stone’s throw from the hustle-and-bustle of central London but surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Chiltern countryside. We’re unique – but that’s just how we like it.
We pride ourselves on doing things a little bit differently here. From quirky family-run independents to proud displays of our chair-making history. Our ancient ‘Mayor Making’ ceremony still takes place in the town each May (the only one of its kind in the country) and our varied programme of town-centre events includes community art exhibitions, theatre productions, live music, themed markets, storytelling and heritage walks. We even have our own one-day family musical festival where locals can enjoy delicious street food and performances from some of the best live acts and street entertainers from festivals up and down the country.

We’re a town bursting with history, down-to-earth humour, creativity and buckets of potential. From beautiful buildings and unique businesses to stunning outdoor spaces – we’ve got the lot. If all that sounds like your cup of tea then, as we say in these parts, why not pull up a chair and stay for a while?
