With Christmas just around the corner, High Wycombe is gearing up for the festive season with its annual ‘Christmas Lights Switch On’ event, this year taking place from 3pm to 8pm on Thursday 17th November. Hosted throughout the Town Centre, with stages on both the High Street and Frogmoor, there’ll be live music, entertainment, children’s rides, gift stalls, oodles of food, and celebrity fun for all the family…

Launching from 3pm, the High Street stage will be blasting out the festive hits, with appearances from local musicians – Dan Pryde, Soraya Ray, Grace Note, as well as the Castle Street Dancers and the BNU Dance Club to get our toes tapping. But the live entertainment doesn’t stop there, with the Frogmoor Stage kicking off from 5pm, featuring Jackie Palmer Stage School Dancers, BNU Cheer Squad, Glee Club Choir, Stagecoach Singers AND Dancers, The Blend Choir and finally pop-sensation Amir, who’s sure to get us all in the festive mood. PLUS, Wycombe Sound will be broadcasting LIVE throughout the event and keeping us entertained with their merry banter.

There’ll be some familiar faces, with ‘The Snowman & Snowdog’ hosting ‘meet & greet’ sessions on Church Street at 3pm, 4pm & 5pm, plus Santa will also be bringing his sleigh along, courtesy of Wycombe Santa, giving children the chance to get a snap a picture before his busy season!

Visitors are urged to come HUNGRY, with 15+ food trucks joining the event, featuring every type of cuisine, from Jamaican, Vietnamese, Indian and Vegan, to delicious Donuts, Brownies and Luxury Hot Chocolate for those with a sweet tooth. And not forgetting the all-important Mulled Wine!

The Annual Christmas Parade will be making its way down the High Street from 5.30pm, with a special guest appearance from The Swan’s very own Cinderella in her Pumpkin Carriage, and flanked by 100+ mini Cinderellas and Prince Charmings from Holmer Green First School, Marsh Infant School & West Wycombe School.

And finally, for the ‘main event’, the Christmas Lights will be switched on at 6.45pm on the Frogmoor Stage, by none other than Vernon Kaye, who’ll be performing as Dandini in The Swan’s Christmas Pantomime, ‘Cinderella’. Vernon will be joined on stage by not only The Snowman, but also High Wycombe’s esteemed Mayor Cllr Arif Hussain & Chairman of Buckinghamshire Council Dev Dhillon.

Chief Executive of HWBIDCo Melanie Williams commented; “We’re so excited to be hosting our traditional Christmas Light Switch On Event in High Wycombe again this year, and we’re so pleased to have so many local businesses, performance groups & organisations involved. It’s a real community ‘feel good’ event and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to the town centre on 17th November to kick off the festive season in style – it’ll be a great day!”
